Why We Will Not See Lonestar at the LMA

Ticket BLASTER Subject: Why We Will Not See Lonestar From:”Bill O’Neill…..” Date: Mon, 07 Feb 2005 17:02:55 -0500 To: boxoffice@lowellauditorium.com To Whom it May Concern: Since I’m on your email list, I was excited to get the reminder about Lonestar at the LMA next week. Clicked on Ticketmaster, got the credit card ready, entered four tickets and then …. I can understand the $34.50 x 4 for the full ticket price. I can definitely appreciate the $1.00 x 4 for building charge – the LMA is a beautiful structure and there are many costs to sustain that. Processing fee of $2.50 for the order made sense. Even the additional “Ticket Fast” that was recommended at the website for an additional $2.50. Then comes *$6.50 x 4 for the Ticketmaster “convenience” charge*. Now, there’s your deal-killer. Even to “will call” the tickets I would only save $2.50 off of a total charge of….$173.00. The tickets are $138! To buy your tickets, I am forced to buy four seats for the price of FIVE? And what is the value-added? Ticketmaster has been the bone of contention for years with many customers but I must say that it’s the venues who opt not Continue reading →

Whoa there, Nellie!

This is yet another one of those email chains that make their way around the cyberworld. On first glance, I bought into it. Completely. On further reflection, I reached for my “Bill O’ Rant switch.” Pardon this intrusion: [Bill-O'-Rant Mode ON] If these were our shared common experiences, and it worked so well for us, then why didn’t we pass them off to our offspring? We created the “me” and “gimmee” generation that is under challenge. At first, I bought the “lawyers and government are to blame” arguement, and that’s likely a big part of it, but how much of that is due to the fact that we folded too early in the game? [Bill-O'-Rant Mode OFF] Here it is: – US OLD PEOPLE . . . WHY WE’RE HERE (IT’S TRUE!) To the survivors: According to today’s regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 40′s, 50′s, 60′s, and 70′s probably shouldn’t have survived. First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, and didn’t get tested for diabetes. Then, after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paint. Continue reading →

Thanks, Bill

Attn: Bill Gates On the everso slim chance that this will ever make it to Bill Gates’ attention, please allow me to tell you how moved I was to read that you are pledging three quarters of a billion dollars for vaccinations for kids around the world. We moved to rural Vermont in 2000. I’m a vocational counselor and became a volunteer EMT two years ago to try to give back to my small community, one that is so far from life-saving services, and so close to poverty, as latent as it may be in some cases. We read of war, tsunamis, crime, and the side-effects of greed. News such as this gives us such hope in the human condition and boundless admiration for you and your generosity. I don’t think that your generosity stops with gifts; the more I think about it, your entire career has been characterized by generosity, the sharing of new ideas, technologies, and dreams. Thank you for being authentic. And thank you for taking the time to read my message. God bless, Bill O’Neill Shoreham, Vermont

Remember… An interesting email circulating these days – This is kind of interesting and fun … brings back a lot memories. Give it a try and pass it on. History Exam… Everyone over 40 should have a pretty easy time at this exam. If you are under 40 you can claim a handicap. This is a History Exam for those who don’t mind seeing how much they really remember about what went on in their life. Get paper and pencil and number from 1 to 20. Write the letter of each answer and score at the end. Then, best of all, before you pass this test on, put your score in the subject line! 1. In the 1940s, where were automobile headlight dimmer switches located? a. On the floor shift knob b. On the floor board, to the left of the clutch c. Next to the horn 2. The bottle top of a Royal Crown Cola bottle had holes in it. For what was it used? a. Capture lightning bugs b. To sprinkle clothes before ironing c. Large salt shaker 3. Why was having milk delivered a problem in northern winters? a. Cows got cold and wouldn’t produce milk b. Continue reading →
