Fred Sheehy, Rest in Peace Those who counted themselves among those who considered Fred Sheehy a friend could fill a stadium. I was very saddened by the news of Fred’s passing, and my condolences go out to Flo Sheehy and the entire family. It was as recent as this past Thanksgiving weekend when I dropped in to visit my Saturday morning radio buddies at WCAP. I was not on the air five minutes when Fred Sheehy called in with a hearty ‘Good Morning!’ and best wishes. Fred kept that connection with people he cared about, just another aspect of Fred Sheehy’s authenticity and genuineness of spirit. I won’t forget those mornings at the counter at Vic’s in Centralville. It could be the dreariest of mornings – until Fred Sheehy would arrive and send out his trademark “Good MORNING!” to each person he greeted. Fred gave much more than he took, and that is but one of the many wonderful things for which Fred Sheehy will be remembered.
