How Shall We Respond?

On the heels of the weekend’s release of graphic photos of abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. and British troops, what next? This is despicable. How can we set a standard, raise the bar, show leadership, and hope for peace, when we are capable of such unspeakable acts against another human being?

While keeping in perspective that of over 150,000 troops serving proudly, that a dozen can bring this all to a crumpled mess, the U.S. military needs to act swiftly and judiciously against the perpetrators. And the president needs to lead that charge.
