A Case of Bad Gas

Fox News online is reporting: “VIENNA, Austria — OPEC agreed Wednesday to follow through on an earlier pledge to cut its oil production target by 4 percent starting in April despite calls from the United States for cheaper fuel. “The Saudis have gone from being a reliable OPEC price dove to OPEC’s arch price hawk,” said independent energy consultant Mehdi Varzi.” So, how many of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi citizens? Anyone? How much have we heard about challenges to Saudi Arabia’s role in the world over the past three years? The money crunch that will be exacerbating the pain in the collective U.S. wallet will awaken the sleeping giant in a manner the Saudis and OPEC had not anticipated.

Disaster in Fallujah

How bad is this? The carnage. Five U.S. Marines dead and civilians killed and their burnt bodies hung for all to see, with dancing in the streets. A stark remembrance of Kosovo when a U.S. soldier’s dead body was dragged through the streets amidst cheers and jeers. I hope for but one thing, that neither political party in the U.S. will speak a word to politicize our world struggle in the name of this dreadful series of occurances. Those who would lower themselves to perform such an act know not of civility, of true freedom, of the sanctity of life, and the brotherhood of mankind. There is, indeed, much to pray about today, indeed.

This is exerpted from a press release by the Kerry campaign, quoting a veteran/Kerry supporter, as published on drudgereport.com: “George Bush insulted me as a veteran and as a friend to many still serving in Iraq. This act lowers the dialogue about weapons of mass destruction. War is the single most serious event that a President or government can carry its people into. No weapons of mass destruction have been found and that is no joke – this is for real. This cheapens the sacrifice that American soldiers and their families are dealing with every single day.” — Brad Owens (Iraqi War Veteran, US Army Reserves)

American Grandstand

Former top terror advisor, Richard (not Dick) Clarke dashed off this resignation letter to President Bush. Although I’ve not read his new book, I have a feeling Clarke did not include this heartfelt sentiment in his work: “It has been an enormous privilege to serve you these last 24 months,” said the Jan. 20, 2003, letter from Clarke to Bush. “I will always remember the courage, determination, calm, and leadership you demonstrated on September 11th.”
