I submitted this to OpinionJournal.com, the WSJ’s opinion site, in response to today’s column on the Bush appearance on NBC’s Meet with Press with Tim Russert this morning. Re: Philosophy, Not Policy Comment: Near the mid-point in the interview, the president acknowledged that he was sounding like “a broken record.” Perhaps. It was clearly a result of the rhythmic timing of Russert’s interrogation on Iraq and the decision to go to war. While I appreciate Peggy Noonan’s remarks, I’d add that punditry will not be equally true to criticism of the host who was not at his usual best. #—
